Summary

The HR and Payroll Administrator will be responsible for overseeing all payroll-related activities and supporting day-to-day HR operations within INOVO. This role ensures that employees are paid accurately and on time, manages statutory submissions, and maintains accurate employee records. In addition, the HR and Payroll Administrator will help maintain compliance with South African labour and tax regulations, while contributing to an efficient, supportive, and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

Payroll & Employee Administration:

  • Process and balance monthly salary runs, including commission calculations and related deductions.
  • Verify and reconcile monthly expense claims.
  • Prepare monthly salary reports for departments.
  • Manage monthly leave balances.
  • Complete and submit monthly PAYE and UIF returns.
  • Assist the Executive: Special Initiatives with talent management. These duties include assisting with recruitment processes, new employee documentation and onboarding, and any other requirements set out by the Exec.
  • Ensure contracts and other employee documentation are signed, filed, and securely stored.
  • Complete annual and bi-annual EMP501 submissions.
  • Coordinate annual Workman’s Compensation, Skills, and Employment Equity submissions.
  • Register and manage documentation for learners and learnerships.
  • Update training loan sheets and documents monthly.

Nedbank & XERO Administration:

  • Allocate daily Nedbank transactions on XERO.
  • Load and process ‘once-off’ Nedbank payments.
  • Balance monthly company loan journals.
  • Control and reconcile petty cash.

Asset & BEE Management:

  • Assist the Executive: Special Initiatives to maintain the laptop asset register in Jira Assets.
  • Assist with BEE compliance documentation and initiatives.
  • Support the finance and HR teams during annual audits.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A qualification in Human Resources, Payroll Administration, Accounting, or a related field (degree or diploma preferred).
  • 2–3 years of experience in payroll and HR administration role within South Africa.
  • Experience with SAGE payroll is essential.
  • Working knowledge of South African tax legislation, including PAYE and UIF processes.
  • Experience using XERO or similar payroll/accounting software is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the BCEA, LRA, and other applicable labour legislation is beneficial.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • ISTQB Foundation certification or relevant QA qualification (preferred).

Industry Experience (4–6 years):

  • Proven work experience as a QA Engineer or Software Tester in a software development environment.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with short release cycles.

Technical Skills:

  • Manual Testing: Solid experience in creating test plans, test cases, and executing test scenarios.
  • Automation: Proficiency with tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or similar.
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Exposure to Jenkins, GitLab, or AWS DevOps pipelines.
  • API Testing: Familiarity with RESTful APIs and tools like Postman or REST Assured.
  • Performance Testing: Understanding of JMeter or similar performance testing tools (beneficial).
  • Database Knowledge: Good grasp of SQL for data validation and backend testing.

Soft Skills & Other Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills.
